Scaled scores explained
Raw marks (out of 110) convert to scaled scores 80-120; 100 = expected standard.
Scaled scores standardise across years (the raw mark needed for 100 changes slightly each year). 100 = working at expected standard. 110 = working at greater depth (rough). The scaled score is what schools and parents are reported.
Worked examples
Raw 70/110 in 2024 ≈ scaled 102 (expected standard met).
Raw 95/110 ≈ scaled 110 (greater depth).
Raw < 50 ≈ scaled below 100 (working towards expected).
Frequently asked questions
Why scaled?
Comparable across years even if paper difficulty varies. Officially set so 100 always = expected standard.
Are scores published?
School-level results are public; individual results go to parents and the next school.
