Find ¾, ⅖ etc of a quantity. Find the whole when given a fraction.
Method: divide by the denominator, multiply by the numerator. ¾ of 100 = (100 / 4) × 3 = 75. Reverse: if ¾ of N = 75, then ¼ of N = 25, so N = 100.
Worked examples
⅖ of 60 = 24.
⅜ of 40 = 15.
If ⅚ of N = 25, then N = 30.
